Munio wood beads are maufactured from very hard tropical wood and lacquered with a specially developed lacquer which is both very durable and very environmentally friendly, but it cannot withstand constant abrasive movements, cleaning agents, hand creme, or water.

Can one be allergic to wood?

Some people are allergic to wood. If the lacquer of your Munio wood beads are worn off over time, and you experience a rash, you should instantly stop wearing the wooden jewelry and potentially see a doctor.

How do I treat my leather goods?

Leather is a natural material and should be treated with care. As you wear your leather items, it will get a worn look. It will also become softer, stretch a bit and potentially crack in the surface. Leather should not be in contact with water, soap, parfume or creme.

Why does Munio exclusively use recycled silver in the production of the jewelry?

Extraction of new silver is usually a part of an established mining industry, where it is estimated that 2/3 of the silver is recovered as a byproduct of gold, lead and copper. These mining industries often leave large and very noticeable traces on the environment - both inside and outside the tropical forest areas. This is especially true for contamination of groundwater and the soil above the mine, the impact on biodiversity and general disturbances of the ecosystem.

Is all wood in Munio's products FSC (Forest Stewardship Council) certified?

Yes, Munio will never use tree that is not FSC certified. The reason is that the FSC certification is our and our customers' guarantee that the wood is harvested responsibly and as a part of an overriding commitment to securing the survival of the forests.
